Right before first
Votes come from the people. This time the evidence of those votes will too. My name is Femi Olamijulo and here is my promise for 16 January and 6 February 2027.
On 6 October, at the briefing INEC held to mark one hundred days to the elections, the INEC chairman said that in national elections it is far more important to be right than to be first. I agree with Professor Amupitan on that, completely. It is the one rule E Don Kast has been built around, and it is the reason we have said so little while we built.
Here is the other thing I keep hearing. That the elections will end in court, like they always do. That INEC is leaning one way. That the results are already written. I understand why people say it. I grew up in Lagos; I have sat up on election nights waiting for a portal that stopped moving, like everyone else. But "the results are already written" is only true if nobody is holding the record. So we are going to hold it, in public, with you.
What we will do
Votes come from the people. In 2027, for the first time in a general election, the evidence of those votes will come from the people too. Every polling unit result sheet we can get, from INEC's own uploads and from citizens standing at the wall where the result sheet is posted, goes into one public record, mapped to its unit, its ward, its local government and its state. You will be able to find your own polling unit and see what the result sheet says. If no sheet has arrived for your unit, you will see that too, by code, instead of a number somebody guessed.
We do not call winners. We do not announce results. Only INEC declares, and that is the law. What we do is make sure that when the declaration comes, 176,846 polling units by INEC's count, there is a record beside it that anyone can check, sheet by sheet, with the time of every cut.
What we have already done
This is not a plan on paper. Osun, 15 August: we held a document for 3,752 of 3,763 polling units, and the 11 we never got are listed by code on our Osun page as gaps. On election night we watched the public portal stop at 87 percent for two hours and fifty-four minutes, and we recorded it from INEC's own timestamps. Our tally for Accord, the winning party, came within 1,818 votes of the declared 511,067, about 0.4 percent.
Five legislative by-elections, 19 September: a document for 1,608 of 1,713 polling units across Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano. In Dawakin Kudu we read all 303 sheets ourselves. Our count of the winning votes was 22,890. The declared figure was 22,890.
Before that, the FCT council elections in February, where about two hundred citizens sent us sheets from their own polling units and we learned how citizen submissions work.
Our own counts above are from our live board at 23:20 UTC on 7 October 2026. How we keep the record, in plain language, is at edonkast.com/resources/how-we-keep-the-record.
My promise
The record of 2027 is only as complete as the number of people who help piece it together. So this is the promise, and it is the only one I will make. I am writing it on 8 October, one hundred days exactly before the first of those two days: on 16 January and 6 February 2027 you will be able to see what the result sheet at your own polling unit says, and if it never arrives, you will see that it never arrived. Not a rumour, not a projection, not a party's number. The result sheet.
This time will be different because this time you can check. The record is open now at app.edonkast.com. Go and find your unit.
