Election information should be easy to access, easy to understand, and easy to verify.

E Don Kast is a citizen-powered election data platform that brings together polling unit results, official election records, and supporting evidence in one place. It lets a voter, a journalist, an observer or a researcher follow an election from the national level down to a single polling unit.

This is how it is laid out.

Find results by location

Every election on E Don Kast is organised geographically, making it easy to navigate from broad summaries to individual polling units. You can search by:

  • State
  • Local Government Area (LGA)
  • Ward
  • Polling Unit

From a statewide picture to a single polling unit, the citizen-submitted results that exist are a few clicks away. As new submissions are received during an election, results update to provide a clearer picture of what has been reported across the country.

Explore elections in your area

Different locations may be participating in different elections at the same time. E Don Kast helps you identify the elections taking place in a particular state or local government area, including contests such as:

  • Governorship elections
  • Presidential elections
  • National Assembly elections
  • State Assembly elections
  • Local Government elections
  • Bye-elections

Once you've selected an election, you can view the candidates contesting and the political parties they represent. So you know which offices are being contested before you read the results.

View election results

For every contest, E Don Kast presents results in a simple and transparent format. You can view vote totals by:

  • Political party
  • Candidate
  • Polling Unit
  • Ward
  • Local Government Area
  • State

To help users interpret the data, the platform also displays reporting coverage, including how many polling units have submitted results compared with the total number of polling units in that area. Read early results against that coverage figure: while submissions are still arriving, reporting is incomplete.

Verify results with EC8A forms

Where available, E Don Kast provides access to the photographed EC8A result sheets submitted by citizens. These images allow anyone to compare the published figures with the official polling unit result sheet completed by election officials.

You do not have to take the numbers on trust; check them against the sheet.
